What is Manolution?

Manolution is a home fitness program and the answer to the question "How do I get in shape and stay that way?". There are many fitness programs out there, all of which probably work well for getting you in shape, but as far as I know, they all either have an end, or get repetitive after a while. This is where Manolution is different.

Manolution, like fitness, is not a program that you can complete in a few months. Manolution will become part of your every day life.

The workout is constantly changing

Everyone has heard that if you do the same exercises over and over again, your body eventually gets used to it and, although you will still see gains, the rate at which you see the gains slows down drastically after a while. I do not know if this is necessarily true, but I do believe that doing the same thing over and over again will get boring after a while. Manolution provides you with a different workout every day. The program draws from a data bank of over 200 exercises (at this moment, we have a little more than 200, but the number of exercises will increase over time), and generates a new workout for you every day.

Not only is a new workout generated every day, but every three to six weeks, the type of workout you do will change. For example: if your goal is to get big and strong, you might alternate between strength and bulk phases. If your goal is to be generally fit and get better cardio performance, you might do a few weeks of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and then a few weeks of total body circuit training.

As you progress the exercises get harder

After Manolution becomes part of your life, we will keep track of your progress and fitness level. This is important so that you can keep pushing yourself to the limit while reducing the risk of injuries and keeping the workout fun. If, for example, you can do around 25 push ups when you start the program, making you do one armed push ups might not make sense, since you will not be able to do them. But, if you are doing around 50 or 60 push ups, one armed push ups are great, because kicking the intensity up a notch is a good way to make gains.

The workouts work with the equipment you have

When you register for Manolution, you can tell us which equipment you have. A pull up bar is the minimum, but obviously, the more equipment you have, the more exercises you can do. At this moment we only have exercises that require dumbbells, resistance bands, a pull up bar, or a combination of these things, but we plan to add exercises with other equipment in the future.

The program adjusts to your schedule

Manolution does not demand that you workout one hour every day, you can choose how often and how long you can workout. Obviously, if you work out six times a week for an hour each, you will get better gains then if you work out twice a week for half an hour, but we understand that not everyone wants to get in ridiculous shape and just has enough time to do barely enough to stay in shape. What is important is that you stick to your plan (doing more is OK, but less is not). If you tell us that you will be working out four times a week for an hour each, then we expect you to do so. If you can not stick to your plan, then you should change the plan, so that you can stick to it.

New exercises are constantly being added to the program

There are a few reasons why some exercise is not part of the program. I am not in the shape that I would like to be in, so I am using Manolution to get in shape. So, at this moment, I cannot do every exercise that I would like to have in the program. As I get fitter, more exercises will be added to the program. Also, I do not have a lot of equipment, if I get different equipment, I will add different exercises. One other reason why an exercise might not be part of the program, is because I do not know the exercise. If I learn a new exercise, worthy of the Manolution, it will be added.

Manolution has no end

As I have stated before, fitness is not something you do for a few months and then you are done with it. It is like eating healthy, showering, or any other part of life. Imagine someone would undergo an intense showering program and then decide he has showered enough, because he has been doing it very hard for a few months. That is not how being clean works, within a few days he will stink to high heavens. Well, the same goes for working out. Sure after you exercise for a few months really hard, you might be in the best shape of your life. But, if you then stop doing anything to stay in shape, you will be back where you started in no time, reminiscing about the times you were in great shape. Manolution will never end, it ends only when you decide you have had enough, maybe because you are now fit enough to follow your dream of becoming a professional rock climber and you do not have time for manolution anymore. Sure, I can live with that, as long as you are doing something to stay in shape.
